THE APPEARANCE
APPEARANCE
When first laying eyes on Zhang Liao, it is the grey eyes, the thinly trimmed goatee, the intensity of the lines of his face. He stands at 6 feet tall, 210 pounds of pure muscle. Years of fighting on the front lines, of cutting men down, of dueling with some of the most powerful warriors in history have toned his body into a full forced killing machine.
Under his armor, numerous scars weave a tapestry of war. But that is covered by plates of armor and chain. He carries hismelf tall, always seeking out every detail of his surroundings, sizing up everyone he meets to see their true fiber. All but his face is covered by armor and clothing, even his hair is covered by his head apparel.
APPAREL/ARMOR
Zhang Liao wears a suit of form fitting, custom built armor, dyed many times for the lords and kingdoms he has served. It is the standard chinese scale mail, reforced with leather straps and small steel plates. His gauntlets and boots are plated steel. Under his armor are clothes of plain dyed cotton, along with a sash around his waist given to him by a mysterious woman from his past. To complete his ensemble is a Leather tricorn helm with blue horsehair, used to not only protect his head, but to help his allies find him on the battlefield.
WEAPONS
Zhang Liao is a master of hand to hand combat, proficient in sword, spear and archery. However, on the battlefield, he uses his deadly and fearsome twin axes. Known as Gold Wyvern and Celestial Wyvern, he wears them across his back when not in his hands. They are about 4 feet long from tip to bottom of handle. Broad bladed axe head with pointed tips on the top and back. The Gold Wyvern tinged with gold on the blade and the Celestial Wyvern tinged blue. He carries a small knife in his boot always for hunting and emergencies.
THE HISTORY
Little is known of Zhang Liao before war swept through China. He distinguished himself from an early age as a peace officer and then a common solider in the ranks of elected volunteer armies, then recruited by Dong Zhuo, fighting alongside Lu Bu. He served in many campaigns and battles, standing out not only to his liege lords and officers, but to opposing officers and lords as well. One of those lords was Cao Cao, who after taking in Lu Bu, took in Zhang Liao as well. Though he still serves Lu Bu, he looks to impress and serve his newfound lord.
At the Battle of Red Cliffs, He was able to cut a path through the flames, where he first met Gan Ning. They dueled to a draw, Zhang Liao having to rescue and guide his lord to safety. He cut through Wu and Shu forces and demonstrated his might before the newly formed three kingdoms, and his old lord Lu Bu.
After that defeat, he continued to distinguish himself at a front line commander and brilliant tactician. Leading many successful campaigns against Wu. His most famous campaign was defending the city of He Fei against the massive force of Wu. That leading to a second furious duel with Gan Ning before the gates of the city. Gan Ning pulled a retreat with Wei reinforcements bearing down on them. Zhang Liao had then instilled a fearsome legend in every warrior in China. He seeks to no only finally top his new rival, but to use his might to finally bring peace to China.
