The air in Cheng Du smelled of blood, smoke, death and desperation. All the smells that drew predators like Fang Wei. How could he resist such a Delicious scent as it drew him to the south and the provincial capital of Yi province. He didn't smile, he never did but his dead eyes for once were alight with glee, he got the feeling he was going to enjoy this town. It stank of all the corruption of humanity, a man like himself could do well here, one side or the other would eventually have need of a man such as himself. Or if not, in all this chaos who would miss a few more corpses, he did enjoy his occasional amusements. Looking around he found himself in the merchants district of the city. It was extremely quite, clearly being under siege didn't agree with the common people. They were probably all locked inside there homes, if they had not fled already. Only the desperate were out in such times, well the desperate and the predators that prayed on them.
There was another reason he had come south. His name had become someone what infamous in the north, it was decidedly time he came south. He was sure there was a bounty on his head back home. Besides he thought it was likely the people were the same here as they were back home. Selfish, self deluded and filled with blood ready to be spilled, people were all the same where ever you went. He felt no pity for them, he was incapable of that, just a seething hatred that boiled under his skin. It had been too long since he took a life. First however he needed to know more about the situation, he never liked to risk himself without having a good plan first. It all well and good spilling blood, but a smart man always found out what they could first. Which side would appreciate him the most for instance. Fortunately such information was generally easy to come by, he headed right for the first den of corruption he could see, the local tavern.
Fang Wei pushed open the door of the first tavern he came too, the sign above the door had called this place 'the winged tiger'. As he past the threshold his hand slipped down to the blade at his side, he would relish the chance to defend himself if given half an excuse. Unfortunately the place was half deserted, still it would do for his purposes. Besides he didn't enjoy being surrounded by the filth that was humanity. He scratched the palm as his hand, itching the scared flesh as he moved threw the room. It was a tick that often gave away how uncomfortable he was around other people. The flesh hurt some of the wounds were still recent and self inflicted, the sweat pain helping to sharpen his thoughts. He had a job here, he could not afford to get distracted by killing people, at least not yet. Besides he didn't need trouble until he had a local lord to hide behind. Making his way over to the bar he sat down next to an off duty solider.
"Wine, red." Fang Wei ordered tossing a single coin across the bar. The solider he was sitting next too looked a little uncomfortable. Most people were put off by Fang Wei. it was his dead eyes, his lack of any body language and the his general baring, it made them feel strange. Perhaps they could just sense how insane he was, still that was easily remedied.
"A drink for my friend here as well." Fang Wei decided tossing a second coin across the bar. The off duty solider looked far more at easy now, pathetic now easily money bought friends. Just another thing to hold against humanity, they were so pitiful. If the man drank enough he could pump him for some general information. In the mean time he might as well have a drink himself. The foul stuff helped him feel more at ease in his own skin, he self harmed far less after a good drink. Besides you never knew who you might meet in such a place as this.
