It had been many years since the wondering bandit Fang Wei had sworn his allegiance to the Xianbei confederation. After his men had been all but hunted down by Cao Cao following the battle of Guan Du. It had been many years since the world had seen the true face of Fang Wei, the reasons why he was a monster instead of a man. That was about to change tonight, tonight the Xianbei would discover there critical mistake. There was a price to having such a man around, a price that could only be paid in blood. Out on the battle field he has served them well, winning each fight he found himself in, well rewarded he was for those effort. It was however what he did during his off duty hours that was the problem, they should have watched him closer knowing how unstable he was.
Fang Wei had donned the robes of his cult, they were all concealing and a dark red color, all the better given what they were for. His scared hands reaching down to the alter to grip the blade of sacrifice, a serrated dagger he used during his darkest rituals, he turned to face his coven. A group of men personally selected for either there own insanity or there very dark sadistic desires. They had all sworn allegiance to his cult that he had built over his many years in Xianbei. He didn't smile, he never did instead he simply nodded seeing they were all in attendance, twenty plus men, some of them minor nobility. It had taken him a long time to secretly build his following, now it was time the blood would flow. He turned back to the alter where was bound tonight's sacrifice a young man in his prime. He didn't know who he was, he didn't care all that mattered was the man was human, that was reason enough. His body bore signs of intense torture, the pleasure his coven had already extracted from his flesh had been quite amusing. It was now time to end this ritual with the traditional blood sacrifice. Fang Wei raised his blade to strike!
Before the blow could fall the upper door of the basement crashed open, in the dust a group of armed men stood holding a portable ram. They wore the uniform of the guardsmen of Bei Ping. It seemed at last there little cult had been discovered. Hissing like a viper Fang Wei turned to face them still holding his knife.
"We have been betrayed my brothers and sisters. Kill the unbelievers." Fang Wei yelled, not moving himself as his coven drew hidden blade and moved to face the guardsmen. Fang Wei just watched the carnage as the armored guards moved into the room. He cared nothing for the lives of his coven while he might prefer that they won this fight he was not willing to risk his own life over it. When it became clear they would lose he turned and looked toward the hidden bolt hole in the corner. It lead to a secret escape route.
Fang Wei was many things, most of them terrible. However the reason he had lived so long committing such crimes was that he above everything else was a survivor. He always had an escape route planned and it was his nature to flee when confronted with odds that did not favor him. Tonight it seemed his days in Bei Ping were over....well it had been good fun while it lasted. Striking while he still could he left his blade sticking out of the sacrifices chest, let the guards find it later. Leaving his men to die he quietly made his way over to the hidden exist and threw it open. Jumping down he locked it from the other side, effectively locking his own followers in to die. They would at least provide a good distracted and by the time the guards found he was not among the dead, he would be long gone.
"Bei Ping was starting to bore me anyway, its time i saw the world once again." Fang Wei said, speaking to himself as insane people tended to do. He cast asides his robes as they would make him stand out. Under them he was waring a set of light armor, such as might any wondering adventurer or bandit. He would set his sites some where else, the world still needed a Fang Wei while there were people still to kill. Humming tunelessly to himself he walked away into the darkness, he would not see Bei Ping again.
